Candace Cameron Bure is an actor and television personality. Born on April 6, 1976, in Los Angeles, she is best known for playing the eldest child, D.J. Tanner, on the popular family sitcom "Full House," which ran from 1987–1995. Bure, the younger sister of "Growing Pains" star Kirk Cameron, began her acting career in 1982, with guest roles on shows such as "Punky Brewster" in 1985, and "Who's the Boss?" and "Growing Pains" in 1987. After "Full House" wrapped, Bure had guest roles on shows such as "Cybill" in 1996 and "Boy Meets World" in 1997.
Bure married NHL player Valeri Bure in 1996 and took the early 2000s off from Hollywood in order to focus on raising their daughter and two sons. Upon her return to professional life, she was a panelist on nostalgic clip shows like "I Love the '80s" and starred in over two dozen Hallmark Channel movies. Bure moved into the television personality phase of her career by competing on season 18 of "Dancing with the Stars" in 2014, coming in third place. She became a co-host of "The View" from 2015–2016. Bure, a conservative Christian, frequently clashed with her "View" cohosts during debates on the day's topics.
In 2016, Bure began starring in "Fuller House," a continuation of the sitcom that made her famous. She reprised the role of D.J. and also directed three episodes of the series, which ran until 2020. In 2022, Bure was named chief content officer of GAC Media, tasked with developing original movies for the channels Great American Family and GAC Living. Bure is also the author of four books.
